I liked the story and the beautiful spectacle of Oz. James Franco is hard to hate-on but I wanted to punch all of his teeth every time he showed them. The build-up to the plot’s main villain was a let-down. A lot of the annoyances has to be blamed on Sam Raimi. Pushing all the negativity aside, I did enjoy the film.

It starts off great with the video game characters, the witty jokes, and all its nostalgic charm. After all that goes, we’re stuck in little kiddie land for the rest of the movie. It’s not a bad thing but these animated films are usually great for both adults and kids. This one felt like it was geared more towards the kids. The ironic thing is that the kids are too young to get all of the video game jokes. Still, I really, really enjoyed it.

This film is beautiful, imaginative, colorful, and wholesome. There is a lot of computer-generated graphics here but it's used in a highly tasteful way that compliments the film, not distract you from it. The story and its message isn't deep but it's well-told. This is one of those of movies that everyone, of all ages, can enjoy – and should.

There is nothing fancy or complicated about this movie and that's what makes it watchable. If you happen to hate Owen Wilson or Jennifer Aniston, this is probably the one time that you can tolerate them. The film is straight-forward, funny enough to keep your blood pumping, sad but not heart-wrenching, and also very American.

I think it's official now, M. Night Shyamalan has pissed everyone off. I'm not a fan of the cartoon series but I heard that this made fans livid. After I finally got around to seeing this, I have to say wow! I understand why it's so great now. First off, there's a death within the first 20 minutes and this film even shows blood! I have never seen blood in any of these cute Pixar pictures. So it sets off a slightly more mature environment from the get-go. As for the rest of it, it's one of the most touching films I have seen.
