There is no lung-popping laughter here but it is bizarrely entertaining. Jack Black is perfect for this role, adding his trademark elements that actually make you attached to his character. That’s right, you’ll actually care about a Jack Black character.

Beasts of the Southern Wild

It feels like an epic adventure spanning across fantastical continents even though we clearly see it takes place in the swamplands. An imaginative picture about bayou fables, survival, and innocence. The best aspect here is that it doesn’t force any agenda on you, it’s just great film making.

The Bourne Legacy

Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) did a fine job as the action star but this does not have the intensely smart style of the previous Bourne films. The top secret group hunting Cross resemble a call center during peak hours. It’s not a good reboot, but it’s a good action movie.

This feels like it’s directly trying to compete with Bridesmaids and The Hangover. It’s not that men can do raunchy humor better, no. It’s that these girls can’t do raunchy humor at all. Talking about blowjobs and vomit in the same sentence without being clever misses the point. The cast is great but these are not the roles they should have taken.

Being Flynn

Jonathan Flynn (Robert De Niro) is an asshole father that’s always drunk and mouthy even when he’s sober. Nick Flynn (Paul Dano) does asshole-y things like whine and smoke crack. Jody Flynn (Julianne Moore) doesn’t think she’s a full-on asshole, but enough to kill herself. Bunch of assholes in this movie.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

The best, elderly British actors come together and do what they do best – be old. The story can be predictable but with such a great cast, lead by a good director, it’s nearly impossible to be overly nitpicky. Unless, if you’re an evil person or one of those teenagers that think they’re invincible. A good movie that will stir up a lot of emotions; mostly the good ones.

I only have one question. Just one. Where in the hell is Helen Mirren?!?

Battleship

I'm okay with mindless, Summer, blockbuster films but the dialogue in this is so bad that if those aliens spoke English, they would just pack up their spaceships and leave.

Beyond the Black Rainbow

This is not good, but I like it. I'm really into the nostalgic, Sci-fi style, and the retro score that compliments it so well. Some of the nightmare-ish scenes remind me of the psychedelic masterpiece, Pink Floyd: The Wall. If none of these things appeal to you, then it's best you stay very far away from this one or else you'll regret it.

Batman: Year One

It's an animated version of Batman Begins with a few plot changes and the inclusion of Catwoman. This has a much more serious tone for a cartoon but I think that's what all these DC Universe animated films are trying to do. I think it's a great way to introduce the young ones to the world of superheroes.

Bunraku

Josh Hartnett, Woody Harrelson, Ron Perlman, and Demi Moore is in this. Sounds cool doesn't it? It is kind of fun if you're not expecting a serious film because it is far from that. The visuals look like the director copied scenes directly from a comic book. Only Japanese Anime fanatics will love this. I did not.

Buried

Dude wakes up buried inside of a coffin. Dude freaks out and yells at everyone on his cell phone for not helping him fast enough. Bad things start happening, dude freaks out even more and starts doing dumb shit. I stop caring for dude and hopes that he dies so the movie can end.

Paul Giamatti plays a fantastic prick that constantly struggles with his prick-ness. I'm not that fond of the story (personally) but it was well-written. I enjoyed listening and looking at Rosamund Pike (the woman he chases) every chance she was on-screen. This isn't a movie for sensitive people. I can't say that I loved it though.

Black Swan

I think this is great, mainly due to Natalie Portman's performance. The story itself is not that crazy if you think about it. However, the presentation of the story is excellent, which is expected from Darren Aronofsky and he delivers.

On a personal note, I am happy that this movie is getting a lot of buzz. It's not likely to see a dark, creepy, and mind-bending movie get such high remarks. Hat's off!

The title speaks for itself and I can't tell you exactly why I was curious enough to watch this but I did. I wanted to see if these rich kids live up to the stereotype that all of us middle class Americans perceive them to be. My conclusion, yes, they do live up to the stereotypes but it's not entirely their fault either.

I like the concept for this film. I love the wasteland setting. About halfway through, the admiration starts to wear off and when the end comes, I lose all interests.

This is a much better film from Richard Kelly. I see a lot of his style in this, like the use of liquid. I like the movie's brooding atmosphere and how it doesn't fully explain everything about the origins of the box. Good for a rent if you want to twist your head up a bit.

Besides the acting and other good aspects, I can't say that I enjoyed Babel that much. It seems like movies that have multiple stories intertwining with each other always get a lot of attention. I really enjoyed this. It's based on a true story about an FBI agent who is trying to infiltrate his boss, Robert Hanssen, played by Chris Cooper. Hanssen is suspected of selling U.S. security secrets to the Soviet Union. Chris Cooper's performance is intimidating and he sets such a high level suspense.

The Bride with White Hair
