It starts off great with the video game characters, the witty jokes, and all its nostalgic charm. After all that goes, we’re stuck in little kiddie land for the rest of the movie. It’s not a bad thing but these animated films are usually great for both adults and kids. This one felt like it was geared more towards the kids. The ironic thing is that the kids are too young to get all of the video game jokes. Still, I really, really enjoyed it.

Watching Jennifer Lopez pretending to be a poor person with problems is miserable. This could be used as a strong anti-pregnancy promotion for young teens, instead of the shallow, detached, and pathetically unfunny movie that it is. I have never been more happy to be a single, stupid, and an irresponsible man-child ever in my life, like I did after watching this.

The Wave

The way events unfolded were believable and all the characters did a good job to construct that. It was captivating, then all of sudden, things go out of control for no solid reason. This happens overnight, literally. At that point, you might stop trusting the movie but it is good enough to continue watching until the end.

This one is messy but occasionally funny. I can never get enough of hippie/stoner comedies so I gave this one a lot of leeway. If you don't poke too many holes in the script, then you'll find some hilarious scenes, like this one:

This movie is extremely disturbing but effective because of how well it was directed and how good some of the performances were. No matter how much you hated certain characters, you can't deny their commitment to this project. Even if you wanted them to suffer a justified death. This is a good horror flick but I would insist that most people should veer away from it, especially women.

It's no secret that the American school system is terrible and here's a deeper look as to why. This documentary isn't uplifting. On the contrary, it’s horrifying. I think our children’s futures are screwed and this time, donating money or waving signs around might not be enough.

The Woman in Black

This is your old, creaking, mansion, type of film plot. There are plenty of cheap scares and over-done visuals but it’s not bad. I liked it because it stayed true to itself until the end and doesn’t try to add some useless twist.

We Need to Talk About Kevin

Forget Kevin. We need to talk about Tilda Swinton's amazing performance as a suffering mother who raises a dangerous child. I think the psychotic son is a little bit over-the-top but that would be the only small complaint. This is a good film with a very uncomfortable subject matter that deserves your attention.

War Horse

I don’t mind sappy movies that tug at the heart strings but this one yanks the hell out of them and drags you through a field of bullshit for two and a half hours. The only thing this movie does is give cinematographer’s an erection. Once I saw past all the manipulative tripe, I can sincerely say that I hate this movie.

Some characters spend very little time with Joey the horse, while others don’t even come near him and yet they’re willing to risk their lives for him. All Joey does is run around and occasionally freak out. He never saved anyone’s life nor has he done anything miraculous. Yet, wherever he goes, people illogically make a path for him like he’s a trotting god. It’s not Joey’s fault, I’m baffled as to why all these hungry, tired, and scared people living and fighting in WWI could go out of their way to help a horse for no reason at all.

The Way Back

There isn't anything amazing about this script and there doesn't need to be. You become attached to all the characters as they work together to beat the odds, kind of like Alive. This is one of those films that I admire but hope to never see again.

This is not the muscle-screaming, douchebag, MMA movie that everyone originally thought it was going to be, including myself. There are layers of stories that are gripping, relative to most people, and intensely moving. I highly recommend this as it is one of my top 10’s for 2011.

This wasn't bad – I enjoyed the story. Robert Pattinson sometimes grins like he has a learning disability but he isn't a horrible actor. However, he is far from good when standing next to Christophe Waltz.

I think it was Anjelica Huston’s face that was absolutely perfect for a witch, that got me. That face is what all children perceive when they think of witches, and I mean that in the best way Madame Huston. Shit, sorry, another weird comment.
